Midnight Dances With the Daffodils
oil on wood
Objective
16" x 16"
2010
inspiration comes from a poem by William Wordsworth, "I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud". The poem speaks of wandering like a cloud floating above the hills and valleys and encountering a plethora of daffodils beside a lake. There was utter joy in seeing the flowers "fluttering and dancing" that often, with the inward eye the memory of the experience brings "the bliss of solitude".
my interest in this subject lies with memory. how our mind wraps around experiences. how we choose to see circumstances.
the midnight aspect of the painting is about time. the dark hour... pertaining to the middle of night. the opportunity for dreams and memories to escape. the time i am most in my head... in the bliss of solitude.
